Year 6

Welcome to The Hayfield School. We are incredibly proud of our community and cannot wait to welcome you to join us in September. Our shared values of kindness and decency and having a strong work ethic run through everything we do as a school, giving all our students an experience that goes far beyond the high academic standards we instil in the classroom.

The journey through secondary school is undoubtedly one of the most important, exciting and memorable phases in a person’s life; the time when youthful enthusiasm for learning sharpens into academic ambition; when society becomes wider and life-long friendships are formed. Our dedicated team of teachers and support staff are here to guide you through and celebrate your child’s success.

The Hayfield School Website

Please take the time to visit the school website: ‘The Hayfield School’ where you will find lots of useful information on the school: timings of the school day, policies, term dates, subject information, letters to parents/carers, safeguarding etc.

Holiday dates

The holiday dates for the academic year 2026/27 can be found on the school website: ‘The Hayfield School’, ‘About us’, ‘Term Dates’ then click the drop down box for the correct school year.  The dates for the training days can also be found on the term dates page.

School Uniform

Our school supplier of uniforms is Uniform Direct, a company with a shop in Gainsborough and a comprehensive online outlet (www.uniform-direct.com). In recent years, for inclusivity and cost, we have reduced the number of uniform items which need to be purchased directly from Uniform Direct.

We have a selection of pre-owned uniform in used, good quality condition available for students at The Hayfield School, this includes blazers, PE kit, skirts and trousers. We would like to decrease the amount of school uniform wasted each year while simultaneously providing a cheaper option to parents/carers.

Please email queries on sizes to preowneduniform@thehayfieldschool.co.uk and we will check what we have in stock. Please see our updated uniform policy. We have also added a skirt size and fit guide which Uniform Direct have put together for us to help ensure students order suitable sizes.

Mobile Phones/Electronic Devices

Please be aware that students are not allowed to use their mobile phones whilst on the school site. If in an emergency you need to contact your child during the school day please call the school reception.  You can find out more about this by looking on The Hayfield School Website: ‘About us’, ‘Policies’.

SIMS

We use the SIMS Parent App to communicate effectively with our parents, this enables you to view your child’s timetable and reports, receive letters from school and update contact and medical details.

When your child joins our school you will receive a registration invitation for the SIMS Parent App via the primary email address we hold on record.  We ask that you follow the registration instructions in order to set up the app on your mobile device (We only require one parent, carer or guardian in each household to register with the app). Once you have downloaded, set up the app and verified your email address, please ensure you allow notifications.

Parentpay

ParentPay is the online payment system that we use to manage and collect payments from parents for school-related expenses like meals, trips and visits. It allows you to make secure and convenient online payments from your computer or mobile device.

Your activation details will be sent out to you in the post. Should you have any issues please contact school.

Correspondence with Parents/Carers

Wherever possible the school uses emails or text messages to the number one contact on the Admissions Form, instead of posting letters home.  Please remember to update your contact details should they change.

We look forward to welcoming you into our wonderful school community over the coming weeks.
