We would like to appoint a science technician to support the smooth running of the science curriculum across all year groups from Year 7 to Year 11.  You would be joining a highly experienced science department with a wonderful team, to cover a maternity leave. The role is temporary in the first instance.  The ideal person will be passionate about science and have excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills. The successful candidate must have an excellent understanding of science and previous practical experience is welcomed.  The role will also involve working as a curriculum technician in animal care so a love of and/or experience of working with small animals would be beneficial.  Above all you must be relentlessly passionate about supporting and developing all students to achieve their potential.

We do have high expectations of staff and students, but we also expect them to be individuals who demonstrate a strong work ethic and kindness and decency at every level.  This is because we want all students to make really good progress and leave school with wonderful memories of their experiences.  We want our staff to enjoy their work and really see the value in what they do.  In return we seek every opportunity to develop staff. We offer an excellent professional development programme in-house and support colleagues to attend external training linked to their role and career ambitions. The work-life balance of colleagues is taken very seriously by the Headteacher and both staff turn-over and absence are very low. This is a great place to work where all colleagues are supported and valued, parents are supportive and the pupils are so eager to achieve. We are a high performing school and we are ambitious for every single one of our students.

The school is deceptively accessible within the Yorkshire and Humberside area, with colleagues travelling from as far afield as Grimsby, Leeds, York and Wakefield.  The school is set in the village of Auckley and benefits from extensive grounds.  New College Doncaster is situated next door where many of our young people progress to post-16.

Application forms can be found on the TES vacancies section and the school website together with further information. Please contact our HR Manager, Paula Kynman, 01302 770589, pky@thehayfieldschool.co.uk to arrange a visit to look around the school or for more information.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students and expect all staff, trustees  and volunteers to share this commitment.  An Enhanced DBS check will be required for this post.  We aim for diversity within our workforce.
