This subject will build on your passion for sport and allow you to learn how sport impacts upon society. You will develop your sporting skills in two sports and also develop your leadership and officiating skills. If you like sport and want to learn more this will be a fantastic opportunity.
You will learn about
Contemporary Studies- This is how sport impacts on society and how it develops characteristics and values.
You will develop your sporting skills in two sports- You will do this with a lesson focused on practical performance and you will also plan to improve your sporting skills
You will develop your officiating in one sport
Sport and the Media- You will learn how sport and the media work together and how commercialism impacts upon our society
Sports Leadership-You will develop your leadership skills and organise an event.
You will be assessed in 4 units each worth 25%
In year 10 you will study
1. Contemporary Studies Exam RO51 – 1 hour exam
2. Practical Sports RO52
In year 11 you will study
3. Sports Leadership R053
4. Sport and the Media RO54
You will not only develop your sporting skills but you will also develop your leadership and organisational skills. This course is ideal for anyone looking to develop interpersonal skills that are transferable to any working environment
You will need full PE kit and your normal classroom equipment.
